Afghan fast bowler Wafadar Momand will miss the Asia Cup after sustaining a back injury during the team's training.
Momand has been advised rest for six weeks by doctors after an MRI scan showed a nerve depression in his back, the Afghan Cricket Board said in a statement.
Momand is replaced by another fast bowler Yamin Ahmadzai who was already in the squad as a reserve player, the statement said.
Meanwhile, Dawlat Zadran, who sustained a knee injury ahead of Afghanistan’s T20I series against Bangladeh in June earlier this year, has been advised a period of six weeks to complete his rehabilitation, the statement added.
Asia Cup will kick off in on September 15 in the UAE. Afghanistan’s first match will be against Sri Lanka two days later.
