Contraband beer of various brands stuffed in two containers were seized after an Anti-Drug Operation force checked two trucks in northern Baghlan province on Wednesday, police sources said claiming it was largest seizure at once.
The containers contained as many as 37,000 bottles of beer, none of which was free from alcohol, a chief of provincial intelligence office said.
They were filled in Tajikistan, he said, and the final destination to be transferred to was the capital, Kabul.
“A man has been arrested in connection with the case,” he said, “and he is under our investigation.”
Use of alcoholic drinks is prohibited in Afghan law so is its trade.
Most of drug seizures have been in made in northern part of the country, and after the seizure, police destroys them by burning.
