Afghan President Ashraf Ghani and the United States have conflicting views on some peace issues, Afghanistan's state minister for peace said on Wednesday.
Abdul Salam Rahimi revealed this while speaking at the Senate.
Rahimi said that the Afghan government is fully aware of details of talks between the US and the Taliban, which have taken seven rounds so far.
He said that the president was closely pursuing the talks and wouldn't allow national interests of Afghanistan to be threatened.
Rahimi said that the international community was seeking peace in Afghanistan, and that the opportunity for peace must be seized.
He emphasized on the importance of unity between political figures and the government on reconciliation.
He also said that Afghanistan should not be reliant on foreign aid forever.
US and Talban have cited progress in their talks, which focus on four issues including troop withdrawal, counter-terrorism assurances, intra-Afghan dialogue and ceasefire.
Ahmad Wali Massoud, an Afghan presidential candidate, said that the peace talks lack transparency and the citizens are not aware of their details.
He also said that those have paid sacrifices for decades in Afghan war have not been involved in peace process.
