Afghanistan's interior minister said on Monday that it would soon change provincial police chiefs.
Wais Ahmad Barmak told 1TV that the move would cover 30 provinces.
He said that the change was inevitable and it was part of reform.
“It is necessary to bring about some changes. Commanders with strategic capability and experience of war would be appointed in provinces where we face operational problems,” Barmak said.
The minister emphasized that mostly younger and educated people would be appointed in the positions.
He said that dozens of young officers had been appointed in different positions in the ministry.
Earlier, the Interior Ministry changed police chiefs of Kabul districts following an open competition.
