Newly-built Islamic culture centre was inaugurated in Afghanistan's Ghazni province on Sunday.
The construction of the 840 million afghani centre was expected to be completed in 2013 when Ghazni was declared as the Asian capital of Islamic culture by the Morroco-based Islamic Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization.
The building was officially inaugurated by the Afghan Minister of Urban Development and its control was handed over to Higher Education Ministry.
Urban Development Minister Sayed Sadat Mansoor Naderi said that lack of funding and reforms delayed the project.
The centre covers 30,000 square meters of land, according to the minister.
Apart from the centre, officials also inaugurated several other recently completed projects including renovated Hakim Sanayee tomb, land transportation terminal, 50-bed centre to treat drug addicts and two hostels.
Abdul Karim Matin, the provincial governor, said that work on nine projects including reconstruction of Bala Hisar of Ghazni will also begin soon.
